The search for an ideal society and planning for its members to achieve happiness, as well as answering the question of how to attain a desirable future for a community, has always been a central concern for sages and leaders of society. Among these, the role of thinkers such as Farabi in introducing and presenting the structure of an ideal civil order is undeniable. He is the first philosopher who, through his concept of the Virtuous City, raised independent and systematic discussions regarding the ideal society, its pillars and components, and comprehensively examined political, cultural, economic, and military criteria. Furthermore, he did not separate governance from religion, depicting the ideal society as having a religious leader who serves as the fundamental principle and axis of unity among all pillars of that system. In this respect, Farabi’s ideal system can be considered equivalent to the Mahdavi system. Therefore, the present research, conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and library sources, seeks to examine Farabi’s utopia and its criteria for planning towards the desirable Islamic system, whose goal is the attainment of happiness for all members of society.
